Tick & Flea Treatment: What You Need to Know

Ticks and fleas are more than a nuisance – they cause skin irritation, allergic reactions, and can transmit diseases to your pet. Prevention is always better than cure, but when an infestation takes hold, swift action matters.

If your pet has an active infestation, we recommend treatment at home or via a mobile grooming service first. Bringing an infested pet into a shared grooming environment risks spreading fleas and ticks to other animals. However, if we observe fleas during a grooming session, we will apply Kyron Ultrum medicated shampoo as part of our duty of care – we won’t send your pet home untreated. We take immediate measures to fumigate and sanitise the salon environment to protect every pet that follows.

If we find ticks, we will carefully extract them and wash your pet with our medicated tick and flea shampoo. We’ll advise moms and dads to monitor their pet closely for any changes in behaviour following removal – lethargy, loss of appetite, or fever can be signs of tick-borne illness and should be seen by a vet promptly.

Important for moms and dads: treating your pet alone won’t break the cycle. Flea eggs and larvae settle into bedding, carpets, furniture, and crevices around the home. Without treating the home environment simultaneously, eggs will continue to hatch and re-infest your pet. Wash all bedding on a hot cycle, vacuum thoroughly, and consider a household flea treatment to tackle the problem at its source.
